Veeam Management Pack (MP) v8 Update 5 is now available, which extends and adds new features from Update 4 of last year. In this update, the integration with Veeam Backup & Replication for management of the deployment of the Windows Agent and job configuration has been extended into System Center. This allows for real-time alerts of Veeam backup jobs and policies for systems where the System Center Agent is installed and will combine system-wide event and performance data. Combining this with the applications System Center is already aware of results in a “visibility benefit” that comprises run-state of a system, enterprise applications and the Availability strategy with Veeam backup products.
Also added is a Morning Coffee Dashboard for Veeam Backup & Replication, providing users with an at-a-glance, real-time health status of the backup infrastructure components. The new dashboard is located in the Operations Manager console and will function alongside existing Veeam Morning Coffee Dashboards already available in Microsoft Operations Management Suite. The new at-a-glance dashboard is also customizable for each data center’s backup infrastructure.
VMware brought VMware Cloud to AWS, which allowed organizations to have a full vSphere environment running in AWS. This provided the same control they have on-premises to a VMware vSphere infrastructure. Beginning with the Veeam Backup & Replication 9.5 Update 3, organizations have had the ability to back up workloads running in VMware Cloud on AWS. In this newest update, organizations can now have a consistent view of the clusters running on-premises with the infrastructure running in VMware Cloud on AWS.
Veeam MP provides monitoring tools for is VMware vSAN. With this new update, organizations will have access to many new alarms that enterprises need to keep vSAN running as smoothly. These include automated vSAN health, configuration, and hardware compatibility checks. In addition, Update 5 features new Veeam MP monitors tracking critical vCenter services such as the Update Manager service and the Platform Services Controller. These new alarm monitors also come with KB articles, giving Veeam MP operators quick access to information that is easy to understand, even for non-experts in VMware vSphere or vSAN.
