At Veritas Vision 2017 in Las Vegas, Veritas Technologies has announced significant advancements to the company’s 360 data management portfolio. Veritas strives to make transforming organizations a seamless process for their customers and channel partners. Today the company simplified the process further by making their entire portfolio under a single subscription license. Designed to help organizations better utilize their data in a complex, multi-cloud world, this announcement includes new innovations to Veritas NetBackup, Veritas Information Map and Veritas Appliances.
Veritas NetBackup 8.1 will introduce Veritas NetBackup Cloud Catalyst, new deduplication technology that allows their customers to better leverage the cloud all the while saving money. Using deduplication or the removal of duplicate copies, Veritas claims that NetBackup Cloud Catalyst has the ability to shrink the size of data almost three times faster than similar offerings from other companies.
Veritas NetBackup Parallel Streaming, another addition in version 8.1, enables rapid data protection of in-demand, cloud-based, scale-out workloads and applications including NoSQL, Hadoop and Cassandra.
Also announced is the significant update to Information Map, which consists of connectors for 23 new data sources for both on-premises and cloud-based data storage repositories to allow customers to see what data they have across a wide range of environments. This broad visibility creates an environment for better decision-making on what data to retain, migrate or delete. Veritas indicates that it also helps to ensure compliance with data regulations around the world, such as HIPAA and the European Union’s forthcoming General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
Lastly, the new Veritas NetBackup 5340 appliance will offer all the benefits of NetBackup 8.1 in a reliable, high-performance integrated appliance and the ability to scale and easily protect tens to hundreds of petabytes of data.
Availability
Veritas NetBackup, Veritas Information Map and Veritas Appliances are slated for a release in the coming quarters.
