Our News Bits is a roundup that typically covers news pieces that are just small in content, not in impact. This gives content room to breath even if it comes in less than what we normally cover. At VMworld 2017 there were several announcements that either small or would potentially get wiped out by some of the larger announcements so we have collected them here. Announcements come from companies such as iland, StorageCraft, Mellanox, Rackspace, Attala, XtremIO, and Cohesity.

Dell EMC Announces The Availability Of XtremIO X2
Announced at Dell EMC World, XtremIO X2 is now generally available. Dell EMC says XtremIO X2 shows up to a 25% gain in data reduction compared to the previous platform. Further, the X2 supports twice the number of XtremIO Virtual Copies (XVC) per cluster, which empowers customers to make XVCs more often and with longer retention. These updates combine to hit on two key use cases Dell EMC is seeing for XtremIO, those being VDI and test/dev. With better data efficiency and more effective use of iCDM, XtremIO X2 is better positioned to meet these demands.
