Western Digital has announced the new G-Technology G-DRIVE mobile SSD R-Series, a portable SSD that uses the latest-generation USB-C connectivity to deliver reported transfer speeds up to 560MB/s, and the availability of a new software development kit (SDK) for its G-Technology 12-bay G-RACK 12 NAS solution.
Western Digital has announced the new G-Technology G-DRIVE mobile SSD R-Series, a portable SSD that uses the latest-generation USB-C connectivity to deliver reported transfer speeds up to 560MB/s, and the availability of a new software development kit (SDK) for its G-Technology 12-bay G-RACK 12 NAS solution.
The new R-Series SSD solution is a rugged portable device, as it has an International Protection Rating of 67 (IP67) for water and dust resistance as well as the ability to withstand up to a 3-meter drop on a carpeted concrete floor and 1000 lbs of pressure. Ranging in capacities up to 2TB, the new G-DRIVE mobile SSD R-Series is lightweight in design and can easily fit into a pocket.

G-RACK
The new SDK will allow G-RACK 12 third-party partners to develop customized applications for the G-NAS OS, which will be able to run natively on the system’s dual 6-core Xeon processors. Those who use the new kit will see an overall increase in performance of their G-RACK solution, as it will offload tasks from local machines and streamlining workflow.

Backed by a 5-year warranty, the G-DRIVE mobile SSD R-Series will be available at select global G-technology resellers later this year this year priced at $699.95 (2TB), $379.95 (1TB), and $199.95 (500GB).
