Western Digital has announced its My Book Essential line of external hard drives is now available with up to 3TB of capacity and USB 3.0 connectivity.
Western Digital has three external hard drive lines, all of which are now available with USB 3.0: the My Passport Essential portable hard drive, My Passport Essential SE portable hard drive, and the My Book Essential external hard drive, which is available in capacities up to 3TB.

The My Book Essential is one of the world’s most popular external hard drives. It is available in 1TB/1.5TB/2TB and now 3TB capacities.

WD My Passport Essential USB 3.0
The My Passport Essential is the company’s smallest external drive; featuring 500GB of capacity, it is available in five colors: midnight black, cool silver, real red, pacific blue, and arctic white. The My Passport Essential SE ups the ante in capacity and is available in 750GB and 1TB variants; it comes in four metallic colors: black, silver, blue, and red. Both drives are powered through USB — no external power adapter is required.
Other highlights include two year warranty, WD SmartWare software for automatic backups, password protection for privacy, and the drives are packaged in recycled materials which can also be recycled.
