WD has announced the release of My Cloud OS 1.5, which offers new versions of the My Cloud product firmware as well as the My Cloud mobile app and media navigation, viewing and search features. The free upgrade is available on the full suite of My Cloud products including My Cloud, My Cloud Mirror, My Cloud EX2 and My Cloud EX4.
Media View provides users with a more engaging way to view and search their photos, music, and video content by selecting a media icon to quickly view all, or select to view by date or album. In addition, the My Cloud mobile app's new Search feature now allows users to find their media file by name by simply typing it in the search field. The WD My Cloud app also helps unify all of a users’ cloud storage under a single app and user interface. As a result, this allows for access to content on the personal cloud as well as on major public cloud services including Dropbox, OneDrive and Google Drive, from just one app.
The WD My Cloud OS 1.5 upgrade includes an update to the WD remote access servers that provide the authentication and access to My Cloud devices to address the BASH/Shellshock vulnerability. Additionally, iOS 8 users can now open a file, edit it and save it directly onto their My Cloud personal cloud storage from any location. Users do not need to save files to their mobile devices which takes up, what is typically limited, storage space.
