Western Digital has announced its first entry into the traditional enterprise hard drive market with its first 10,000 RPM 2.5-inch SAS interface hard drives.
The WD S25 series is available in 147GB and 300GB capacities and connects via a 3 Gb/s or 6Gb/s SAS interface. The S25 series has a claimed sequential data rate of 128MB/s. Additionally, the drives carry a 1.6M hour MTBF rating and require less than 8W to operate.
