Western Digital is announcing today that it’s updated its Mac-centric "My Passport" line of portable hard drives. The line is divided into two models: the "My Passport Studio" and the "My Passport for Mac."

Western Digital is announcing today that it’s updated its Mac-centric "My Passport" line of portable hard drives. The line is divided into two models: the "My Passport Studio" and the "My Passport for Mac."
Both models feature 500BG, 750GB and 1TB versions. The difference between the two models lies primarily in the connectivity options and case materials. The My Passport Studio model has two FireWire 800 ports and a USB 2.0 port, while the My Passport for Mac has only a single USB 2.0 port. The My Passport Studio features a more durable all-metal enclosure in addition to password protection and encryption software, whereas the My Passport for Mac has a plastic body.
Pricing and Availability
WD’s My Passport Studio and My Passport for Mac are available now. The Studio has an MSRP of $129.99 for the 500GB capacity, $159.99 for the 750GB and $179.99 for the 1TB. The My Passport for Mac has an MSRP of $99.99 for the 500GB capacity, $119.99 for the 750GB and $129.99 for the 1TB.
