X-IO has announced that it will demonstrate a single rack of commodity hardware that can sustain over 15 gigabytes per second of throughput and up to 100,000 IOPS with Windows Server 2012. The demonstration at Microsoft TechEd North America 2012 uses 10 ISE-2 Intelligent Storage systems with HP servers, Infiniband adapters, and hardware from Qlogic, offering a maximum capacity above 100 terabytes.

The demonstration at Microsoft TechEd North America 2012 uses 10 ISE-2 Intelligent Storage systems with HP servers, Infiniband adapters, and hardware from Qlogic, offering a maximum capacity above 100 terabytes.
Each X-IO ISE unit is a self-contained storage building block designed to scale as ISE units are added while maintaining consistent performance. ISE units from X-IO are also intended as data center environmental upgrades, speced for low energy consumption and HVAC loads.
The demonstration platform is comprised of:
- 10 ISE-2 Storage Systems (powered by 700 watts per 3U box)
- Microsoft Windows Server 2012 with SMB v3
- X-IO X-volume software
- Standard HP DL380p G8 and DL360 G7 servers
- Infiniband adapters and switches
- Two QLogic 5800 8GB fibre channel switches and six Qlogic QLA2564 (quad-port) host bus adaptors
