The Bluetti B80 Expansion Battery is an 806Wh LiFePO4 expansion unit designed to pair with the AC60 Portable Power Station. By connecting two units to the AC60, you can get up to 2015Wh in capacity. This expansion allows you to scale power needs based on the use case, helping you save weight if you don’t always need the added runtime.

The B80 Expansion Battery has a few tricks up its sleeves. While it can expand the capacity of the AC60 Portable Power Station, it also functions as a standalone DC power station.
Equipped with a 100W USB-C port, an 18W USB-A port, and a 12V/10A cigarette lighter port, it can charge various devices like smartphones, tablets, and mini-fridges. This is pretty cool as you can be leveraging the main power station for some output, and if you need more power at a different location use this for those DC-power needs.
At the time of our review, the Bluetti B80 has a street price of $599.

Build and Design
Operating the B80 is simple, as it only has two buttons on the front. It features a power button for easy startup and shutdown, while the DC output button enables you to control the cigarette lighter and USB outputs. Five LED indicators display the battery’s charge level, providing a clear indication of the remaining power. While a digital display would be nice, it would add cost or other overhead that is really not needed with this unit.
The B80 is designed to withstand outdoor environments. With an IP65 water-resistant and dustproof rating, it can handle some rain and is designed to hold up to more rugged conditions. This sturdy construction ensures that the power platform remains operational no matter how far you push into the elements.
Usage and Power Capacity
In our review of the Bluetti AC60 Portable Power Station we measured the actual battery capacity using a 350W AC load at 340Wh. While that works well for smaller power loads, expanding it allows the system to handle much bigger demands. The listed capacity of the B80 expansion battery is 806Wh.
Putting the AC60+B80 through the same power test again, we measured a total discharge capacity of 1030Wh. Subtracting the main unit’s capacity leaves us with a usable capacity of 690Wh from the B80. On the charging side, the total AC60+B80 combo needed 1420Wh to go from 0-100%. Again subtracting off the AC60 side of it, we get the B80’s recharge value of 940Wh.
The only downside to the expansion pack system we found was in the area of charging times. The AC60 has a charge rate of 600W, which is pretty quick for the integrated battery. Larger systems with 1kWh+ batteries though tend to have charge speeds in excess of 1,000W. So as expansion batteries are added to the AC60 platform, total charge times can get drawn out.
Conclusion
The Bluetti B80 Expansion Battery is a useful addon for the AC60 Portable Power Station, allowing it to scale in capacity depending on your demands. In our tests, we found a single B80 combined with the AC60 brought the total combo up to a usable capacity of 1030Wh. This puts it in the same class as larger portable power stations, although when the capacity isn’t needed you can drop half the weight off this package.
Another useful aspect of the Bluetti B80 is that it can act as a standalone DC power source. This can be helpful for situations where maybe all you need is a huge USB-C battery pack, without the AC-inverter. Overall in our testing, the Bluetti B80 Expansion Battery was a useful add-on for the Bluetti AC60 ecosystem. The main benefit for some buyers is having a system that can scale when the time comes, but having a very compact system if you don’t need all of the capacity all the time.
