Design and build
The ThinkVision P27u-10 monitor has a very nice black design with a fairly minimal top and side bezel while supporting VESA mounting options. The screen is really bright with a very nice vibrant color quality is vibrant that better than most larger displays we’ve worked with.
The main video connectivity is located on the back panel, which includes the HDMI, DP, USB-C and power ports, while the side has the four USB 3.0 ports and audio jack. We tested the charging capabilities of the P27u-10, and found that works just fine with our MacBook via a single USB-C cable.
The P27u-10 is supported by a circular ergonomic stand that allows for a ton of maneuverability. This includes capabilities that include lift, where you simply push up or down on the monitor to leverage its 110mm height adjustment; tilt, which offers a 30 degree to -5 degree range; pivot, which allows you to turn the monitor 90 degrees both in left and right directions; and swivel, which uses a built-in pedestal that allows users to swivel the monitor via a range of 45 to -45 degrees. All of this makes for a versatile monitor that can be adjusted to meet pretty much any comfort needs.
The monitor buttons are very easy to access, as they are located at the front of the monitor (facing the users) on the lower-right area of the bezel. Using the OSD is simple: just press the menu button and use the arrow and enter keys to navigate through the menus. The monitor also has a button that allows you to move backward through the sub-menus and exit the OSD. You can lock the OSD to prevent accidental settings changes by pressing and holding the back button for 10 seconds; press and hold for 10 seconds to unlock.
Lenovo ThinkVision P27u-10 Usability
We only had a few minor issues with its design. While the side ports have flush access, the ports on the back panel are somewhat recessed, which makes it a bit difficult when plugging cords in. This might cause some frustration for users who have to access the back panel ports often. Though you can remedy this by rotating the display 90 degrees to portrait mode to make the ports much more accessible, this method is only viable depending on your workstation setup. Moreover, it doesn’t have a carry handle cavity on the back, which can make it cumbersome to carry around for some people.
Overall, the OSD was simple to navigate and easy to read. Once loaded by pressing the OSD button, users will have some useful options to customize their viewing experience. Image properties, which can be accessed at the main menu, allows you to select from a range of different preset modes, such as Adobe RGB and sRGB settings. You can also change the input signal and scale the display image in this section. In the options menu, you can change accessibility, DP, language and USB settings, and shows general information about the monitor like current resolution, refresh rate and product details. There’s not too much else to say about the OSD, only that it functions as it should.
Conclusion
Lenovo has created another fantastic monitor with the Lenovo ThinkVision P27u-10. It’s small enough to easily fit on a workstation desk and large enough to give users ample screen real estate for their day-to-day work. The P27u-10 is highlighted by its brilliant display, accurate colors, and range of connectivity, making it an asset to anyone’s workstation or simply for someone who needs a high-quality UHD monitor. It also features a single cord connection for both the video output and power source and has the ability to display, transit data and charge the compatible USB Type-C device with just one USB Type-C cable.
