The V60 classification is a great indicator of the speeds that can be expected, and with PNY entering the EliteX Pro card into the market, it is important to call out exactly what that means. A V60 certification ensures performance of a minimum sustained rate of 60MB/s. This comes into play with certain workloads that you apply to the card, like high-bitrate video recording, and you have a V60-compatible device.
Of course, the card will default down to the native speeds of any non-V60 device and perform at the lower speed spec. PNY specifically calls out backward compatibility with UHS-I devices at UHS-I speeds.
Our review unit is the 256GB capacity, which goes for about $60 on Amazon. These cards are also available in 128GB ($33) and 512MB ($125).

The EliteX-Pro60 SDXC cards feature a black and green design with the green band featuring the EliteX-PRO60 styled for the product line. The label also shows capacity, and classifications and has a small blank white spot to write in.
Performance Results
The EliteX Pro60, with the big numbers, and “prosumer” levels of marketing make it appear that it is a great card for capturing 4K, and this is validated to a degree, however the test results tell a more complete story.
Lab benchmarks were done using IOMETER and Blackmagicdesign’s Disk Speed Test. We measured performance using our Lenovo ThinkStation P520 testing platform. It is also important to note that the 256GB model that we have in the lab is the best performing in the line, with the 128GB and 512GB models specced slightly lower on write speed.

IOMETER results validate the “Up To” claims of specification for Read, coming In at 272.7MBps, and Write coming in at 75MB/s. Large-block random write was very slow, which might not come into play in most situations if the device you are using writes with a single sequential stream online.
Using Blackmagic, which simulates a video workload, also validates the V60 rating and read results. The PNY EliteX PRO60 will perform as advertised for burst mode HD photos and 4K Ultra HD Video at 4096×3072.
Conclusion
The PNY EliteX-PRO60 is a solid entrant into the space. Even though the card is marketed toward the prosumer or content creators, we also noted the performance of the card being desirable in computing applications such as thin clients or as a hypervisor boot device.
The card delivers on its promises of performance within acceptable margins and is backed by PNY with a lifetime warranty.
