SanDisk Extreme PRO SDHC/SDXC UHS-I Features
The SanDisk Extreme PRO SDHC/SDXC UHS-I seems to be a standard affair for an SD card. The speeds are quoted at 200MB/s read and 140MB/s write. SanDisk Extreme Pro comes with Quickflow technology which optimizes the performance for quick exporting of files off of the SD card. The SD card is also great for recording 4K UHD video, SanDisk advertises this card can safely record 4K video without stuttering on playback. The speed of UHS-3 allows for taking high-quality burst camera shots.
SanDisk Extreme PRO SDHC/SDXC UHS-I is stated to be resistant to shock, water resistant, impervious to extreme temperatures, and resistant to x-rays. This means that no matter what you throw at the Sandisk SD card it will last. Whether you leave it out in stormy weather or you let it bake on the sidewalk, it should still work.
The SanDisk SD card also comes bundled with recovery software which will recover any files that are deleted. Their file recovery software is called RescuePRO Deluxe which is valid for up to two years. This will protect anyone who has accidentally deleted those precious photos of their puppy.
The SD card comes in 32GB, 64GB, 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, 1TB storage capacities. These capacities should be big enough for any sized photo or movie collection you may record on it. The storage capacity also means you may store operating systems, games, and other large media on the SD card. This SD card can even be used in Single Board Computers that might require a lot of storage.
Our review model is the 512GB capacity (SDSDXXD-512G-ANCIN) which retails for $117 at Amazon.

SanDisk Extreme PRO SDHC/SDXC UHS-I Speed Test
We tested the 512GB SanDisk Extreme PRO SDHC/SDXC UHS-I in our SanDisk Professional PRO-READER SD and microSD. This SD card reader is designed by Sandisk and should bring out the card’s full potential as it sports SanDisk’s QuickFlow technology. The reader also comes with a USB-C cable for a quick USB connection. The card reader can be bought on Western Digital’s site for $54.99.
For the context of where this card fits in, this card has lower advertised peak write speeds than SD cards such as the
Sabrent Rocket V90 that offers up to 260MB/s write speeds, but a minimum of 90MB/s. This model is designed for demanding sustained operations, instead of peak operations, which doesn’t directly compare to other models we’ve recently reviewed in the same class.
Our speed tests showed that the SanDisk Extreme PRO SDHC/SDXC UHS-I is in line with the speeds shown on SanDisk’s product page. SanDisk stated that the read speeds are up to 200MB/s where the Disk Speed Test captured 191.4 MB/s a second. The write speeds were the same story, SanDisk quoted the speeds up to 140MB/s, and Disk Speed Test showed 136.2 MB/s.
IOMeter (1-Thread) | |
Test | Result |
2MB sequential write | 133.1MB/s |
2MB sequential read | 191.8MB/s |
2MB random write | 89.8MB/s |
2MB random read | 154.8MB/s |
4K random write | 609.5 IOPS |
4K random read | 1340.9 IOPS |
In our IOMeter single-thread benchmarks, we measured strong large-block performance from the 512GB SanDisk Extreme Pro SD card. In 2MB sequential it measured 192MB/s read and 133MB/s write. Moving to 2MB random speeds lowered to 155MB/s read and 90MB/s write. In our small-block random 4K workload, the Extreme Pro measured 1,341 IOPS read and 610 IOPS write.
Conclusion
The SanDisk Extreme PRO SDHC/SDXC UHS-I is geared toward professionals and consumers alike. SanDisk has a good track record of making products that get the job done with an emphasis on quality that professionals trust. Largely they’ve built this reputation on card reliability and performance.
The SD card speed estimations were very accurate and held up to our testing. With a 200MB/s read and 140MB/s write spec, we came in just slightly under that in BlackMagic and IOMeter for large-block transfers. This SanDisk Extreme Pro SDXC UHS-I definitely won’t spin the highest burst speeds, but it performs very well for endurance applications that need to meet a strong sustained write workload.
Overall the card delivered on its spec sheet, which isn’t always the case in this market segment. And paired with the durable build and price point, the SanDisk Extreme PRO SD card will find its way into many cameras, computers, and other gadgets that can leverage the SD form factor.
